NMFS Opens Directed Fishing for Northern Rockfish in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is opening directed fishing for northern rockfish in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area (BSAI) at 12 noon, Alaska local time, October 11, 2009, according to Robert D. Mecum, Acting Administrator, Alaska Region, NMFS.

This action is necessary to fully use the 2009 total allowable catch of northern rockfish in the BSAI and is issued pursuant to 50 CFR 679.25(a)(1)(i), (a)(2)(i)(C), and (a)(2)(iii)(D). Other closures remain in full force and effect.

This information bulletin only provides notice of a regulatory change. For the purposes of complying with the regulatory change, you are advised to see the actual text of the regulation in the Code of Federal Regulations.
